I’ve been making laundry detergent for almost a year now. I used almost the same recipe that was blogged about on the simple dollar except we use ivory soap. I also scent the final product with peppermint oil. I am not yet through with my box of borax and washing soda, I think I have a year’s worth left. Additionally, I use the borax for cleaning stubborn grease (like the stuff found on a stove). Its very effective.

Beany,
Where do you get the borax? Also, not sure if I commented on your posts about investing and moving, but I could def. relate to much that was in both of those posts! Anyhow, I’m interested in the laundry thing too, maybe sometime later this year when things settle down a bit for me. Good for you for doing it.

I got both the Borax and the Washing Soda at the local Acme in the laundry aisle.
Once you learn to make it, you won’t go back. Its just too easy. Not to mention the savings involved.
