I love doing taxes and reading up on tax issues. Its a pity the IRS won’t even call me for an interview.
I filed our taxes this past weekend and wound up with a $803 refund. I then filed our state taxes and wound up owing $3. So I will wait for Federal refund deposit to pay the state taxes.
Both the taxes were filed for free. Since we made less than $54,000 in 2007, I was eligible to use one of the free tax filing services. I used H&R Block. I liked their software although I wish that web developers would quit using the code that resizes browser windows. It drives me up the wall when my browser resizes.
I used the PA Revenue Department’s website to file my state taxes as I have been for years. I just spend the money for postage to mail the check in.
This is what I’m going to do with the remaining $800 refund. $400 will go toward husband’s student loan. $400 will go toward my savings split between my emergency fund and my moving to California fund.
