Eating locallyMay 8, 2008 11:40 am
I didn’t have rice and beans for lunch today. I had a salad. I had butter roasted asparagus (made this morning) served on top of raw spinach leaves. Dessert is an apple. Very filling.

You’re really amazing. I too am trying to eat as local as possible even in New Orleans. It’s crazy how possibe it is - they grow rice, shrimp, oranges and fruit here! And I was worried with the rice shortage I was going to starve and miss rice. I truly believe with the right green thumb and commitment to growing local, we can truly eat within 100 miles of our zip code. We can work with tough soil, funky weather conditions and temperatures, we just have to be passionate about our mission.
