Today I made yogurt for the first time this year (the temperature was finally warm enough). I bought a small container of plain yogurt yesterday (for the culture) which did come in plastic.
I also made chocolate pudding from Vegan with a Vengence. I topped it with coconut flakes. So delicious.
And I baked bread using whole wheat flour from King Arthur and topped it with sesame seeds.
I also made paneer…but since it was years (10 years?) since I last made it, I wound up with very little paneer cheese because I had forgotten the proportions. But I’m out of milk…so I am going to have to make more next week.
Went out for a lovely bike ride. There were few people out early on a Saturday morning, so the ride was perfect.
Degreased and greased my bike chains using a cloth napkin instead of old method of using paper towels. Now I’m soaking the grease filled cloth in an old pot of water and borax solution.
Currently in the process of cleaning out my harddrive clutter. I think I take too many pictures.
People on craigslist are flaky. I think I might just give all our furniture away by putting it out on the sidewalk.

Wow! You’ve been busy! How did the yogurt come out? I’m making some as we speak. The last batch didn’t set so I’m remaking. I have my fingers crossed!

The yogurt came out well…perfect actually. I’m going to use some of it to make smoothies tomorrow (yogurt + strawberries).

jeez and all i’ve done is laid in bed and read trashy fiction.
oh i guess i did make some fresh lemonade. does that count?

Lemonade counts as does the trashy fiction if it was good trashy.

Goodwill or the salvation army is probably a better choice then the sidewalk. I agree craigslist people are flaky that’s why we don’t really bother with it anymore.

N, the goodwill/salvation army idea is good except that I’d have to rent a car to haul that stuff over..and I’m not sure it worth it.

Do you have a local hospice chapter? Ours here (and maybe the goodwill too) will things up if you call them.

Sorry about that - missing word - Some orgs will PICK things up if you call them and arrange a time.

I completely forgot about the fact that some orgs do pick thing up. I will make some calls. Thanks for the suggestion Heather!

I’m interested in how you make cheese. Is it pretty easy? Do you save the whey that drains off?

Based on what I’ve read of your cooking and canning abilities…you can definetly make paneer.
Paneer making is the same as tofu making: pour a coagulant into the milky substance so it curdles and then drain of the whey(I’ve never saved the whey…not sure if it can be used) while pressing the curds into a cheese cloth.
I used whole milk and get it to a point where its about to boil. Then I lower the heat and pour lemon juice (about 1 tsp at a time)and stir. Repeat until no more milk curdles, then pour the entire thing through a cheese cloth and wring it tightly. I store it in the fridge until its ready to use.

Sounds easy. Thanks! I’ll have to try that!
